Walla Walla County is located in the eastern corner of Washington State. As of the 2010 census the population was 58,781. The county seat and largest city is Walla Walla. The county was formed in 1854 and is named after the Walla Walla tribe of native Americans.

County Jail Information

The county jail serves as the correctional facility for the Sheriff’s Office, College Place, and City of Walla Walla. The jail capacity  has an average daily population of 90 people and several times has reached over 100 inmates. The jail is staffed with a jail commander, 21 officers and a cook.

Visiting hours are via video. Visiting days are determined by the housing unit. If you need to find out what housing unit your inmate is in, call 509-524-5430. You must schedule a visit 4 hours in advance by calling the jail at 509-524-5430. The inmate must initiate their visiting list.

Officers – Male and Female. Apply online. Responsible for daily operations and care and control of inmates. Must be at least 21, certified by a department instructor to us pistols batons tasers, ad OC, pass oral boards, background investigator, driver record, polygraph and psychological examination. Have a valid driver’s license.

Jail Commander – coordinates, supervises and manages programs, personnel and activities.
