Pierce County is located in the West central part of Washington State. The population as of 2010 in Pierce County was 795,225. Pierce County is the second-most populous county in Washington. The county seat and largest city is Tacoma. Formed the 1852, the County is named for US President Franklin Pierce. Pierce County is home to Mount Rainier, the tallest volcano in the Cascade Range.

County Jail Information

The Pierce County Corrections Department is a direct supervision and has the capacity for 1700 inmates. The jail system currently employs approximately 300 corrections employees. There are two facilities: New Jail and Main Jail. The new jail was built  in 2003 and the main jail was built in 1985.
