Cowlitz County Sheriff Information

Cowlitz County is located in the south western part of Washington. As of 2010 the population was 102,410 and the county seat is Kelso and the largest city is Longview. The county was formed in April 1854. The names from the Cowlitz Indian term Cow-e-liske meaning capturing the medicine spirit.

County Jail Information

The County Corrections Department provides and manages progressive correction services in an efficient, effective, and socially responsible manner.

The Jail is under the direction of the Corrections Department and has a capacity of 325 residents on the average. The facility also houses Washington State Department of Corrections inmates who violate the terms of their post-conviction supervision agreements.

Inmate accounts are funded through a kiosk available in the jail lobby. You may also deposit funds online at

Mail will only be accepted in a plain white envelope and properly addressed including a return address.
