Benton County is in the south-central portion of Washington State. The population at the 2010 census was 175,177. The county seat is Prosser and the largest city is Kennewick. The Columbia River demarcates the county’s north, south, and east boundaries. Benton county is named after U.S. Senator from Missouri Thomas Hart Benton.

The Sheriff’s Office has 217 full time employees of which 210 are civil service positions and 6 are appointed staff positions. There is also 6 volunteer reserve deputies.

The Sheriff’s Office provides services to the County , Benton City, and the Hanford Nuclear Reservation.

County Jail Information

The Jail facility services all law enforcement agencies in Benton County and other agencies on a contractual basis. The average daily population is 600 inmates with a capacity for over 800 inmates.

To schedule a video visit you use the lobby kiosk or go online to www.icsolutions.com and create an account. Schedule visit for a date and time 12 hours in advance. Inmates receive 2 free local visits per week Sunday through Saturday. After 2 visits, it costs $12.50 a visit. Visits are scheduled on a first come first serve basis.  If you visit over the internet, visitation is available from 8:00 am until 9:30 pm 7 days a week. Call the jail for in-lobby visitation hours.
