Thurston County is located in Western Washington State. The northern border of the county is Puget Sound. The county seat and largest city is Olympia which is also the state capital. Thurston County was created in 1852. It is named after Samuel R. Thurston the Oregon Territory’s first delegate to Congress. The population of Thurston County as of 2017 is 280,588.

County Jail Information

The average daily inmate count is 425, and the jail processes as an over 20 new bookings and releases on a daily basis. The jail provides safe, secure and humane detention for pretrial and convicted individuals who are in the facility.

Visits are conducted by video. Stations are located in the options program building. Visitors must schedule and inmates must accept the visits. Visitors must present current, valid picture identification.

Visits are conducted from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm 7 days a week. Visitors are scheduled for 30 minutes.

Inmates can receive letter, US Postal money order, US treasury checks and books and magazine plus up to 8 photos. The mailing adder is:

Almost 9,500 warrants are processed annually, and the warrants division currently maintains 5,000 warrants. If you turn your self in, make sure you also present a picture identification. For further information contact the Warrants Division at 360-786-5520 Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
